I can't say for sure since I'm not the one handling the Android ports myself. But most likely, it's just because the game needs to save your progress and store it somewhere on your device, so it asks for access to storage
I feel like I had seen this game once already. this was not a game where you have 1 of 2 choices being always "if you want this pay patreon" , was that the chase?
